More Low-Cost Airlines in Europe

Written by Terri Fogarty

If you have read my earlier blogs, you’ll notice that I am trying to keep up with all the small low-cost airlines in Europe. They seem to be springing up on a weekly basis!

The latest added to the list is Vueling. They have hubs in Madrid, Barcelona and Paris and fly to the larger cities in Spain and Western Europe. And even better than that, they fly from the major airports in each city. So for instance, if you are flying from the US to Paris CDG, you can connect right there to a Vueling flight to major cities in Europe such as Rome, Seville and Amsterdam. The pricing is quite reasonable and they offer on-line booking, assigned seating, new aircraft and a promise of no over-booking and punctuality to a standard that surpasses the industry. Oh, and one more thing…they are having a contest right now on how to celebrate their 10 millionth passenger. Take a look!

Here is my list so far:

Bmibaby : Another British airline (offshoot of British Midland) offering cheap flights throughout Europe.

Condor: This airline flies worldwide on certain routes. Its home is Germany and there are some great inexpensive flights originating in Munich. They have a great little pocket Language Translator on their website that you can download.

Easy Jet: Amazing prices from London to all over Europe. EasyJet is a no-frills airline, but the prices make it worth it.

Europe By Air: This Company represents many carriers in Europe. You can fly anywhere on their route map for $99 each way (plus taxes)

Flybe : From the UK Lots of European destinations at great prices.

Germania Express: This German airline flies throughout Germany, but has other flights such as Paris to Moscow and others as well.

Germanwings: recommended by one of our readers, is another great choice for flights around Europe.

Helvetic Airlines: Zurich is the hub of this airline that flies mainly to southern Europe.

Jet2 : Flights from Belfast, Blackpool, Edinburgh and more to destinations throughout Europe.

Jet4U: Flies from cities in France and Belgium to Morocco.

MyAir.com from Italy. Domestic and international flights

Norwegian Air Shuttle : from Norway. Europe-wide flights.

RyanAir : Lots of choices for where to go in Europe from this cut-rate airline.

Smart Wings :A low-cost airline with a modern fleet located at the Prague airport. Flies to destinations all over Europe. They guarantee the highest standards of safety.

Sun Express: Turkey’s leading low cost scheduled airline. Founded by Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines in October 1989, Sun Express flies from most major cities in Europe to Antalya, Turkey

Vueling : With hubs in Barcelona, Seville and Paris, this airline focuses on Southern Europe

There is even a search engine that scopes out the best fares for inexpensive airlines.
