Swiss Tunnel Set to Open

The new Loetschberg Base tunnel is set to open Dec 10th, shortening travel time within Switzerland and between Switzerland and Italy by 45 to 75 minutes. The tunnel will affect routes between Zurich and Zermatt, Basel and Zermatt, Bern and Zermatt, and Bern to Milan. Intercity trains from those cities will also use the new tunnel, which will be used by 42 passenger trains a day.

Paris to Strasbourg in a Snap

Beginning June 10, you will be able to get to Strasbourg from Paris in half the usual train time. The trip will just take less than 2 and a half hours. France is debuting the high-speed TGV Est, opening Strasbourg, on the border with Germany, and many other cities in the Alsace and Champagne area to greater tourism. You can begin purchasing tickets on this route beginning April 10th. Call your travel agent or go to Rail Europe.
