As of April 30, 2008 it became illegal to feed the pigeons in St. Marks Square. The mayor’s office issued the ban because of burgeoning numbers of birds being fed by tourists who want a picture of themselves covered in pigeons. It has been illegal to feed pigeons in Venice for years, but San Marcos square was excepted because of the tourists.

We are aware of only three major Venice Markets on the main island. Be sure to get up early to visit and buy your picnic lunch for the day.

Venice is a city that is unique and beautiful. The wonderful quiet is at first disconcerting; there are no cars…just the lovely canals and narrow passageways. It is the most romantic city in the world; a city where lovers can stroll by moonlight or relax in a gondola as they enjoy an evening serenade. Just walk and walk… get lost…it’s a small island; you will find your way back.
