Wendy Perrin, of the Conde Nast Traveler Wendy Perrin Report has put out her list of Best Travel Secrets, and it is quite a list. From how to get the most comfortable coach seats, to how to snag a room upgrade… thirty secrets that will help you travel more economically and maybe even more luxuriously.

2. How do you get the best seat in coach?
Before accepting an airline seat assignment, go to seatguru.com and look up the aircraft you’re flying. Seatguru will tell you which seats offer extra leg or elbow room and which to avoid—such as those that don’t recline, have immovable armrests, or have an obstructed view of the movie screen.
10. How do you find a cheap flight to Europe?
Look into flying via Dublin instead of London. Aer Lingus has cheap flights, and low-fare carriers fly from Dublin to many European cities. Be sure to allow at least two hours to catch a connecting flight out of Dublin.
16. How do you get a better hotel room?
Make requests—say, for a specific view or floor. At properties that are architecturally distinctive—especially older European hotels where rooms in a price category can differ greatly in size and view—the best rooms go to those who make requests. Everybody else gets whatever is left over.
