Markets in Tuscany, Italy

One of the joys of traveling to Tuscany is the change to visit the markets held in multiple cities and little towns. There is a market held every day of the week somewhere, and many of the people travel from town to town displaying their wares or selling their home-grown vegetables and fruits. Tuscany Markets are where you can really see the the customs and day-to-day routines of the local people.

Tuscany Markets are usually held in the morning between 6am and about 1:30pm. Bargaining for food items is not the custom, and do not touch the produce without permission. You can point to the item you want and let the vendor take it from there. But it could pay to ask for a discount (sconto) on clothes and other items especially if you are buying more than one item. Some towns have flea markets on Sundays. Ask at your hotel for information on that.

    thanks,

    Hi Babs,

The market in Monte San Savino is on Wednesday mornings.
I can’t find any information on a market in Bagno Vigoni; it may be too small for its own market. The market in nearby San Quirico d’ Orcia is on the 1st and 4th Tuesday of the month.
